Why did I choose Architecture?

In Year 12 at St Andrews College I had an amazing Graphics teacher who introduced me to technical drawing. I loved the challenge of understanding the details of how a building was put together as well as the more creative side where I could help to bring a design to life. I was also intrigued by the computer technology in creating 3D images which 17 years ago was still very basic compared to what can be achieved today.

Where in the World has Architecture taken you?

A career in Architecture has enabled me to travel on holidays to Australia and America. I will never forget my trip to Melbourne and my visit to the Eureka Tower which has the tallest public observation deck in the Southern Hemisphere!

If you weren’t in architecture, what would you be doing?

Baking is my other passion. If I didn’t choose Architecture as my first career I think I would have studied in the Culinary Arts.

What is your proudest moment?

My proudest moment in my career was seeing a home completed on site which I worked on from the very beginning when it was just a sketch by the Architect. Seeing the smiles on the clients face as they proudly showed off every space and I could see all my detailing come to life.

Dinner with one person, past or present, who would it be and why?

I would choose Dinner with my late Grandad, Tex. He was always so proud of me and I miss him very much.
