Project Overview:
This new family home in Arrowtown is designed to sit comfortably within the region’s alpine character, combining warmth, durability, and timeless materiality. Brick and timber anchor the home into its landscape, creating a sense of permanence while offering a soft, welcoming presence for everyday family life. The design reflects the clients’ desire for a robust, comfortable home suited to Arrowtown’s climate and lifestyle.
Design Approach:
Our focus is on crafting a home that feels grounded and warm, while supporting the rhythms of family living. Spaces are arranged to bring people together—centred around a generous open-plan living area—yet allow moments of retreat when needed. The design strengthens connection to the outdoors and frames the natural beauty of the Arrowtown environment.
Light, Space & Connection:
Generous glazing captures soft natural light throughout the day, enhancing the warmth of the interior palette. Indoor–outdoor transitions are carefully considered, creating living areas that open to sheltered patios and garden spaces. The layout encourages connection to the landscape while maintaining comfort through all seasons.
Materials & Detailing:
Brick and timber define the home’s architectural identity—robust, textured, and timeless. Inside, warm materials and tactile finishes create a sense of comfort and calm. Carefully resolved detailing ensures the home feels crafted, cohesive, and intentionally designed from exterior to interior.
The Result:
Currently in development, this Arrowtown family home promises a warm, enduring residence rooted in its environment. Thoughtful planning, timeless materials, and a warm palette come together to create a home that feels both contemporary and deeply connected to place.
