This thoughtfully designed townhouse offers a refined coastal living experience and sits in keeping with the neighbouring Driftwood Home on the same site. Living spaces are positioned on the upper level to capture sea views while maintaining privacy from the home in front.
-
The design centres on an open-plan arrangement, seamlessly connecting kitchen, dining, and living areas. A strong relationship to outdoor space enhances flow and usability, supporting both relaxed daily living and effortless entertaining.
-
Generous glazing is carefully positioned to frame views toward the sea and draw natural light into the home. Openings are balanced to maintain privacy while ensuring interiors remain bright and connected to the coastal setting.
-
The upper-level living arrangement creates a private and sheltered environment, enhancing comfort throughout the year. Thoughtful planning ensures a balance between openness and retreat, supporting both shared living and quieter moments.
-
A restrained palette of materials and refined detailing supports the architectural intent. Clean lines and carefully considered finishes allow the views to remain the focus, while subtle textures introduce warmth and depth.
-
The result is a contemporary townhouse that responds carefully to its setting. Elevated living, strong indoor-outdoor connections, and considered privacy create a home that is both functional and comfortable within its coastal environment.

Late last year we purchased a new build in Sumner at the rear of a site developed by the owner of the front property.
We weren’t planning to move from our home of 16 years but from the first open home we fell in love with the house and having now lived in it for several months our first impressions have only been confirmed.
We love the architectural features particularly the angles of the walls and ceilings on the interior and the shape of the outside along with the contemporary design and materials used on the exterior.
The spaces inside give the impression that the house is bigger than it is and the windows frame the views all around, as well as providing plenty of privacy in a high density area. We are enjoying the feeling that we could be living in an apartment with the main living, bedroom, kitchen and outdoor entertaining area on the top level. The two bedrooms, family bathroom and another living room downstairs are perfect for friends and family. Even on a back section we have two corridors to enjoy the view. The clever use of skylights in the dressing room and ensuite area not only ensure privacy but also provide plenty of light.
Having built and renovated houses in the past we feel very lucky to have found such a lovely space to live in without the hard work.
Thank you Craig and your team for your work and we are impressed that you are still interested in your project even though we were not your original client.
